Privacy Policy
RenderPi is built to respect your privacy. This page explains what data is collected, why, how long it's kept, and the choices you have. There are no third-party advertising or tracking cookies on this site.
Analytics I collect
With your consent, I use privacy-conscious, self-hosted analytics to understand which pages and links are useful. When enabled, I record:
- Page views (the path you visited and, on first arrival, the referring site).
- Outbound clicks to itch.io, YouTube, Patreon, Discord, and similar links.
- Whether a contact-form message was submitted (never its content).
- Coarse, non-identifying device information (device type, browser, and operating system), derived on the server from your browser's user agent.
- An approximate country, where available (see below).
How your identity is protected
- IP addresses are never stored. Your IP is used only transiently on the server and is immediately turned into an irreversible, salted hash. Raw IPs are never written to the database or logs.
- No durable fingerprinting. Visitor and session identifiers are rotating hashes (they change over time) so you can't be tracked across sites or over the long term.
- Approximate location. If geolocation is configured, an approximate country may be derived from your IP. It is treated as approximate only and is never precise.
Contact form
When you send a message, I store your name, email, optional subject, and message so I can read and reply, and I email it to my private inbox. This data is used solely to respond to you and is never sold or shared.
Data retention
Analytics events are automatically deleted after a configurable retention window (90 days by default). Contact submissions are kept only as long as needed to correspond with you.
Your choices
Analytics are off by default and only run after you choose “Accept” in the consent banner. You can change your mind at any time — declining stops all analytics immediately. Your preference is stored locally in your browser.
